Sur le site Corot à Saint-Junien, des rochers jouent avec la Glane sur plusieurs centaines de mètres. Le peintre paysagiste, Jean-Baptiste Corot (1796-1875), est dit y avoir trouvé l’inspiration.

Comme je n’ai trouvé aucune référence de tableaux citant cet endroit, il y a peut-être juste puisé de l’inspiration, allongé dans l’herbe, en profitant de la fraîcheur bruyante de l’eau qui cherche son chemin entre les rochers. De rares enfants s’y baignaient mi-août, laissant imaginer ces rives pleines de vie sous les pas de nombreux promeneurs du dimanche au XIXe siècle. Entre deux bouchées de pavlova, devant son ultime portrait « la Dame en bleu », je fais défiler les paysages mélancoliques de Corot (Baudelaire l’adorait) sur l’ordinateur.

At the Corot site in Saint-Junien, rocks play with the Glane for several hundred meters. The landscape painter Jean-Baptiste Corot (1796-1875) is said to have found inspiration there.

Since I couldn’t find anything about paintings referencing this location, maybe he just stored inspiration while lying in the grass, enjoying the freshness and lively sounds of water rushing between the rocks. Only a couple of kids were splashing around there in the middle of August. The riverbanks were buzzing with all the Sunday strollers from back in the 19th century. While munching on my pavlova, sitting in front of Corot’s last painting, « the Lady in Blue, » I scroll through Corot’s moody landscapes on my computer (Baudelaire was really into them).
